Upper School Books 2022/23: Mathematics

Below you will find links to the books required for your math class for the 2022/23 school year. Each class has its own "box" of required books, so be sure you are looking at the correct class before you make any purchases. Algebra

No book purchase required.

Geometry

Students will be provided with a Geometry workbook for this course.

Advanced Algebra

The students do NOT need to purchase a hardcover text. All students will have access to an e-copy of Big Ideas Algebra II. If they would also like a supplemental hardcover version, it is located here at the link below.

Advanced Algebra with Proofs

No book purchase required.

Precalculus

Students will receive an access code to the e-textbook in the fall.

PreCalculus with Proofs

No textbook required.

AP AB Calculus

This course will follow Calculus: Single Variable 5th Edition by Deborah Hughes-Hallett.  (Copies of the textbook will be available to borrow from the Math Department. If purchasing a copy, students should email the Math Department if they cannot find a used copy for under $25.)

AP BC Calculus

This course will follow Calculus: Early Transcendentals 5th edition by James Stewart. (Copies of the textbook will be available to borrow from the Math Department. If purchasing a copy, students should email the Math Department if they cannot find a used copy for under $20.)

Advanced Programming in Python

Algorithms

No book purchase required.

Coding with Inquiry

No book required.

Computational Physics

No book required.

Data Science

No book required.

Differential Equations

No textbook required.

Intro to Linear Algebra & Matrix Theory

No book required.

Machine Learning

The students do not need a textbook. They only need a laptop (preferably a Mac, otherwise the student must be good at troubleshooting a Windows machine themselves) with sufficient memory and processing speed for machine learning computations.

Math for Social Justice

No textbook required.

AP Statistics

The students do not need to purchase a text.
