Required Books: Mathematics

Below you will find links to the books required for your math class for the 2019/20 school year. Each class has its own "box" of required books, so be sure you are looking at the correct class before you make any purchases. All links go to OES's Amazon Associates account; as an Amazon Associate, OES earns money from qualifying purchases.

Algebra II

The students do NOT need to purchase a hardcover text. All students will be charged $12 for an e-copy of Big Ideas Algebra II. If they would also like a supplemental hardcover version, it is located here at the link below.

Honors Algebra II

The students do not need to purchase a textbook. The teacher will develop and hand out all the necessary notes and materials. However, if the student would like a secondary reference, we recommend Axler's Precalculus: A Prelude to Calculus, located at the link below.

AP AB Calculus

There are many versions of this textbook. The only acceptable one is the SINGLE VARIABLE, 8th EDITION, AP VERSION.

AP BC Calculus

Note: Good condition used copies (some wear and possible notes or highlighting) can usually be found for around $8 on amazon.com. We will be using this edition of the book for homework and reading assignments.

Computer Science: I & II

The students do not need to purchase a textbook. However, they will be charged approximately $30 for a subscription to our online platform, www.cocalc.com.

Geometry

The students do not need to purchase a textbook. They will use a combination of OES-created materials as well as open source EngageNY geometry materials located here.

Foundations of Calculus and Statistics

Students should NOT purchase this text themselves. Instead, they will be charged $40 for an e-book license for this text.

Intro to Analysis

Please do not get newer editions. The correct edition is linked below.

Precalculus

Students should NOT purchase this text themselves. Instead, they will be charged $40 for an e-book license for this text.

Honors Precalculus

For the first precalculus portion of the year, the students do not need to purchase a textbook. The instructor will provide all materials. However, if they would like a secondary resource, we recommend Axler's Precalculus: A Prelude to Calculus.

For the second (calculus) portion of the year, the students will need to purchase Stewart's Calculus, linked below.

AP Statistics

The students do not need to purchase a text. They will be given a classroom copy of Stats: Modeling The World to borrow for the year.
